Navigating the challenges of parenting and family issues.

Parenting is a daunting task at the best of times. As parents, we want to give our children the skills to grow spiritually, physically, socially, mentally, emotionally, and practically. It is not easy and can be demanding for children and adults. Sometimes our parents, siblings, or other family members are the ones contributing to challenging situations for us.

There are a variety of dimensions I help with that include but are not limited to the following

  • knowing your child's spirit

  • getting children to listen

  • motivating your child

  • setting boundaries & establishing routines

  • equipping you with skills to follow through

  • mediating between teens/adults and parents

  • giving ideas on language and wording

  • aiding in social skills

  • helping navigate whether a professional diagnosis is needed

  • helping through difficult situations such as disease, death, separation, divorce

In-home Observations for Children

An in-home observation is an ideal way for me to experience firsthand the reality of the challenge you are facing. Typical situations include morning/bedtime routines, mealtimes, and transitions, such as leaving the house on time. The in-home consult includes

  • an initial conversation discussing the issue

  • an in-home visit during the challenging time (1-2 hours)

  • meeting with you to discuss what was observed

  • agreeing on and setting up an action plan

  • providing language, techniques, and skills to follow through

  • meeting 2-4 weeks later to follow up on the success of the plan

  • readjusting the plan as needed
